This picture shows a strong part of
Craig's play with his driver. Notice the nice straight arm extension
away from the ball. This creates a wide arch which will generate
club head speed on the way back down .
This is one aspect of the so-called Modern Swing, one that all of us
should try to emulate.Craig
shows good flexibility for someone his age. Actually, he's a couple
of years younger than I am but after 55 or so it really doesn't
matter. Driving and putting are Craig strong points. He
was easily the best putter on the trip this year.
Craig drives have a boring flight
with a nice little fade left to right. He was rarely in trouble off
the tee.
Last year he was still recovering
from surgery and his play was a bit weak. This year, he had good
power from the tee box and that magic wand going on the green most
days.
Craig's iron play does not match
his play with the woods. I didn't play that many rounds with
Craig this year but I know he just doesn't hit most of his irons as
solid as he does his woods. I remember a few that he hit fat.
I'm not sure that's normal for him, it could have been the
conditions and the type of grass at Jekyll. |
