 Steve's Swing Profile

Steve is showing good straight arm extension with a high finish.  His weight is shift is pretty good as well. He does look, however, like he's stopped his finish kind of like he was hitting a knockdown shot.

Steve is driving the ball very well.  He now owns a driver that he can hit pretty damned good. It's a damned site easier playing from the fairway than the trees! I can't remember what the big headed bastard is called. Maybe it's Cobra or a Adams. I'm sure he'll remind me what it is. Brother Laarry hit it this past February and was able to hook it. So, it passes muster as a club that a Laird would tote. Actually, everything in Steve's bag is new since 2005.  He's swinging Nike Slingshot irons, got some kind of a trouble wood club that he hits real well and also has a new putter. He does still find ways to totally piss himself off. Especially on the Jekyll par 5's, which are so ripe for the picking. And, on which Steve continues to find novel ways to make 7 on with astounding frequency.

His iron play is quite a bit better although he seems to quit with some of his short irons.  He definitely hits the Nikes straighter than the ISI Pings he wielded in 2004.

It's hard for me to believe that Steve's scoring average was 87.6 as he appeared to be playing much better than that.  It was likely a combination of issues concerning "white death" and some ill fated approach shots from good positions in the fairway that did him in. But, with another year under his belt playing the Sawgrass courses I have to believe that Steve is on the cusp of a scoring breakthrough. You heard it here first so beware all you young, hard swinging kids!!
