Bag Open to be Revived in 2007!
After a three year hiatus, the fabled Bag
Open is slated to be revived in 2007. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's
control, the storied
event was not held the past three years. It began to look as if it would never
be played again but recently during a chance nine hole meeting of three of the
principles it was decided to give it a shot again in 2007. The date has
not yet been set but will likely be sometime in late November after
the weather turns appropriately shitty and most sane people have either gone
south for the Winter or have hung up their sticks for the year. Watch this site
for further details.
Participant Update
There certainly have been some changes to the
field in the past three years. But, at least they're still all alive. Lumpy is
married, as is Village. The long absent Chicken Legs has not been seen for some
time now. He was last known to be teaching school in Columbus and has at least
two kids now. It is believed that CHOP has just the one legal child. Village
has produced one child as well. Lumpy hasn't figured out how that works as yet
but we are attempting to tutor him on that aspect of life. CHOP is driving a
bread truck, Slash is now retired (officially, this time), both Jungle and
Village are still toiling at Whirlpool, Lumpy has now given up being a golf "Pro"
and now works for his father in law's electrical contractor business as a
go-fer.
I finally saw Cusser Boes this past week. He
joined me and the Lumpy for the back nine. Nothing has changed with the lad.
He's still playing 6-7 times week. Actually, he's playing much better and likely
will have to give me at least 3 a side from now on. And yes, he's still gay.
That wife and family is just an elaborate cover.
Flash! - CHOP DQ'ed in 2007 Heart of Ohio
I just this afternoon learned that CHOP managed to
get himself disqualified this past weekend in the Heart of Ohio golf tournament
held yearly at Hickory Grove (Bushwood). It seems that on the second day of the
36 hole event CHOP played his second shot on number 8 from an area marked ground
under repair. Of course, no one in his group said anything about it until number
10 and since CHOP technically never finished hole number 8 he was DQ'ed. The
CHOP was 4 under par for the tourney when the infraction occurred and would have
finished in the money easily so this was a real bitch. I can't understand what his
playing partners were thinking when they didn't tell him right away. I certainly
would have said something. Kind of a sad commentary if you ask me.
Bushwood CC Still Going Strong
However, the course is now being managed by a group that
owns three other courses in the Lima, Ohio area. This appears to be a good thing
as the track is in better shape this year than it has been in many moons.
Make sure to check back at this site for further
updates that most certainly be coming.
