The 2009 Jekyll
Island Golf Trip is history! Eight players ended
up teeing it up on the Isle.
We were without Steve with an injury and Hemi and Shad
did not participate for personal reasons. Hemi 2 was a no
show once again. A late addition to the field was Corey
Fletcher. Corey (right, shown christening the courses
before his first tee shot) was a nice addition. He is a great
young man with a terrific golf game. It was a pleasure to have
him with us this year.
While the weather could have
been a bit better I think everyone had a great time. Please
email me any pictures, stories, or anecdotes you have. I
also need nominees for the Annual Awards. Brian (Left Coast
Bias) shot the swing videos and they are now available
here or from
the menu left.
Sadly, I took no pictures.
Hope someone did.

2009 Jekyll
Cup
After 36 holes
of spirited play, the Laird team finally bested the Fletcher
squad. In one match that featured considerable drama,
including a chip in birdie by Corey that could have sent a match
to the final home, Laarry followed with a long putt to match the
Fletcher team's 3 and ice the match for the Lairds.
Please send me
any of your remembrances of the Jekyll Cup event so
I can include them.
Last Saturday after the Jekyll Cup I was getting ready to
leave the course when I noticed my left rear tire was flat. I
went into the Pro Shop and talked with Terry Z. and he told me
the course had a compressor and arranged for one of the starters
to lead me back to the maintenance shed to pump it up. After
doing so I drove back to the QI for the evening's festivities.
Next morning I went out early and found the tire flat once more.
It was Sunday and the day we were leaving the Island.

2009 Jekyll Theme Video
This video has now replaced
waterboarding at Guantanamo Bay. And, it's definitely more
painful to watch than playing #1 at Pine Lakes in 35 degree cold
and rain.
Dan and Captain Joe
Warm-Up Round
Dan Pickett, Phil Laird, Brian
Rowe, and Laarry Laird participated in this year's warm-up
round at Sanctuary Cove. It was a fun round at a
really nice track. That is, once Laarry and Phil
finally got there. Laarry neglected to read his own web site
for directions and the pair drove past the exit and got off
at the Jekyll exit. Fearing they were in error, they
stopped at a Stuckey's to get directions. Assured
that the course was "just down der yonder" the duo wasted
40 minutes driving aimlessly around.
How Much Do You Know About Golf?
This is multiple choice. If you select a wrong answer, the
ball moves only so far down the fairway and stops and you are
charged with one stroke.
Keep selecting the answers that you think are correct and
the ball moves down the fairway until you get the right answer
and the ball goes in the hole.
If you have the correct answer right away, the ball goes
directly in the hole - a hole in one.
